The upshot of all this is that both teams have vastly different expectations for the pre-season cup. Carlton are in dire need of a win to give their players and supporters some much needed confidence while Sydney are honing their squad for a tilt at the big time when the premiership season commences. A loss here for the Blues albeit on enemy soil would still prove to be devastating for the hopes of all and sundry especially coach Denis Pagan who has done all the hard trading and drafting work but has his fingers crossed that his strategy has some merit.
